Did You Know: Space Storage

… that NASA is using energy storage technology to help power a lunar outpost on the moon? This will allow astronauts to spend long periods of time on the surface. The outpost will collect solar energy to power a ‘Lunar Lander’, which in turn will deliver hardware to the base, as well as help to ‘fuel’ extremely advanced spacesuits. In every case, safe, reliable operation and low mass are critical to ensure the viability of extended stays on the lunar surface while minimising the weight carried around. Here at Big Yellow, conserving energy is just as important. We continue to establish sustainable practices in order to meet Climate Change objectives in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, employee travel and merchandise material selection. Secondary environmental objectives include waste and pollution reduction, water conservation and improved landscape biodiversity.

Big Yellow Staff Tickle Themselves Pink!

Staff at Big Yellow Self Storage stores turned pink to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Every year in the UK nearly 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Breakthrough not only raise money to aid research but also for campaigning and education. Their ‘Go Pink’ campaign encourages everyone to do just that. Our very own staff took up the challenge and transformed themselves into pink beauties! Staff imaginatively incorporated the pink theme into their day at work on the 30th of October. Despite wearing a pink fairy outfit, complete with pink tutu and pink wings, they were still able to drive the forklifts and help customers move their belongings into the Big Yellow Self Storage facilities.
