Tips & Tricks: Clearing Post Christmas Clutter

Tips & Tricks: Clearing Post Christmas Clutter

The Christmas period is coming to an end but that doesn’t mean you will want to be reminded of it all year round. Here are some tips to reduce the amount of Christmas clutter in your home for the New Year. When you remove your decorations after the 12 days of Christmas, make sure that they are stored in the same boxes. If any decorations have broken or you no longer want them, there is no need to keep them for next year. Only keep the decorations that you will want to use again. The time after Christmas is a great time to sort through your wardrobes and cabinets to make room for new items you have received as gifts. Sort through your clothing, shoes and any accessories and make a pile of items that no longer fit or you […]

Mountain Trek In Support Of Cash For Kids

Mountain Trek In Support Of Cash For Kids

Derek from our Armadillo Dundee store was recently asked to accompany Cash for Kids coordinator, Alison Carr on a Mountain Trek in the High Tatras Mountains, Poland. The purpose of the trek was to raise as much money as possible for the Radio Tay – Cash for Kids Charity which the Dundee store is heavily involved with. Cash for Kids supports thousands of children across the North East of the UK who suffer abuse or neglect, are disabled and have special needs or simply need a little extra care or guidance. The trip lasted 9 days, which included 5 days of mountain trekking and living in the High Tatras Mountain range. Each day involved around 7 hours of walking and the occasional rock climbing at the steeper parts, to reach peaks of around 2000 meters. Day 5 of the trek […]

Tips & Tricks: Celebrate Christmas In Your Home Without The Clutter

Tips & Tricks: Celebrate Christmas In Your Home Without The Clutter

Christmas Day is drawing closer and by following these tips over the festive period you can celebrate without cluttering your home. If you’ve bought a real Christmas tree, many local councils offer free recycling and will pick it up for you like they would on a normal refuse collection. You can save storage space all year round by easily disposing of them when Christmas is over. Don’t use Christmas as an excuse to overload your home with a dancing snowman or a singing Santa. Adding decorations to every bit of free space in your home is a quick way to make it look crowded and cluttered. Try playing Christmas music instead to get in a festive mood. Rather than having large decorations you could just tie a ribbon around everyday items such as door handles, banisters and potted plants. This […]

The Big Yellow Christmas Gift Guide

The Big Yellow Christmas Gift Guide

With Christmas just a few days away, many people will still be rushing around the shops to get their last minute gifts and hoping there will be no more snow until Christmas Day. Here are some top tips for presents to buy without creating clutter in your friends or family’s homes. It is essential when purchasing gifts for people that you buy items they actually want or need and avoid duplicating what they already have. Every year people receive Christmas gifts that are really nice but they just have no idea what to do with them. Instead of being put to good use they end up not being used and put in a closet. Buying an activity experience is a great present and there are many things that they offer such as luxury spa treatments, sport stadium tours and driving […]

Bodega Catena Zapata Master Class

Bodega Catena Zapata Master Class

Hi again! It’s Matt the wine manager at ‘The Wine Cellars’ located in Big Yellow Self Storage’s Fulham branch with an update to the wine blog from our recent Catena Zapata event. We had the opportunity to invite Mariela Molinari to The Wine Cellars who is a winemaker at Catena Zapata. They have been established since 1902 and have become one of Argentina’s premier wine makers. Catena’s Alta range has regularly been awarded 90+ points from leading wine authority Robert Parker, making it some of the best value for money wine in the world. All wines tasted on the night were of outstanding quality and here are my top picks: Catena ‘Alamos’ Malbec 2009 £7-8 (Available at Majestic, Slurp & other retailers) A fantastic nose of black cherries, plums, coffee and warm Bakewell tart. With a long, toasty blackcurrant and […]

Big Yellow Supports Mayors Toy Appeal

For the 3rd year running, Big Yellow Tunbridge Wells is supporting The Mayors Toy appeal in the area. We are acting as a donation station for toys and offering free storage to the appeal in the run up to Christmas. The Toy Appeal is celebrating its 21st anniversary and each year they have been helping children from disadvantaged families celebrate Christmas. The local community can donate gifts, which will then be wrapped in our store and given to children as presents. Last year the Toy Appeal successfully gave Christmas gifts to 279 children living in the area of Tunbridge Wells, with many of the presents donated by local residents, shops and stores, as well as local churches, schools and other organisations.

Sponsored Walk For Cash For Kids

Sponsored Walk For Cash For Kids

Staff members from Big Yellow Bramall Lane, Armadillo West Bar and Parkway have all taken part in a sponsored walk to raise money for Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids appeal. The aim of the Cash for Kids appeal is to ensure that every child in South Yorkshire and North Midlands wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning. The team has walked ‘miles for smiles’ and managed to raise £325 for the cause. Another way for people to get involved is to buy new and unwrapped gifts and donate them at selected stores in the area. Every year there are thousands of children across the region that wake up on Christmas morning with no presents to open. To find out how you can help the cause visit Hallam FM’s Cash For Kids website here.
