Spring Cleaning Tips & Tricks
Has anyone else noticed that the sun is finally trying to poke his head out and welcome in the season of spring? We have, and it’s a great excuse to get your home looking tip top for all the entertaining you’ll be doing in the months to come.
Stock up on what you need – all-purpose cleaners, natural cleansers such as baking soda and vinegar, sponges, brushes – and put on some summer tunes to get yourself in the mood. Here’s some great tips to help you on your way to a fresh home.
One by one
To help avoid unfinished jobs, do one room at a time. Even if it’s a room a day, the satisfaction of seeing one room complete will spur you on to do the rest.
Find that your shower curtain is starting to get grimy? Putting it in a wash with a few towels will help scrub it while spinning. Simply hang it back up afterwards to dry.
Did you know that standing your broom on its bristles will damage its shape and diminish its effectiveness? Either hang it on a broom holder or keep it bristle side up to ensure you get the most out of it.
Collecting the fur
Having to remove pet hair from furniture, curtains and even clothes is usually a nightmare. An easy, quick way to do it is to don a pair of rubber gloves, get them damp, and simply swipe it away.
Up then down
When planning your clean, whether it be in the kitchen or the bathroom, it should always be done from top to bottom. That way, any spills, dust or dirt will fall to the floor and get picked up when you’re finishing down there.
Self storage is a great solution for furniture and clothes that you might not need now, but don’t want to get rid of permanently. Keep Big Yellow in mind with this year’s spring clean.
