Our Reading store has come to the aid of the Pottinger family after they were left devastated when a runaway lorry crashed into their house. The chaos started when a lorry rolled down the road hitting a lamp post and a car along the way before crashing into their home leaving a trail of destruction. The damage to the house has meant the family will have to move out for up to 3 months into temporary accommodation. To help move the family’s belongings, our staff have been to see the family to donate boxes and help them pack up their items. Tips & Tricks: How To Store Your Bicycle

Tips & Tricks: How To Store Your Bicycle

There are many different factors to take into consideration when storing your bike, such as how often you ride your bicycle, how much space you have at home and what the weather is like where you live. Here are some top tips to help you plan the way you store your bicycle and keep it in good condition. You should always avoid suspending your bike from a single wheel rim from your garage ceiling as some wheels have ‘quick release’ which could send it crashing to the floor. The wheels aren’t strong enough to take the weight without bending and getting damaged. Before you put your bicycle into storage it’s recommended that you keep the tyres inflated and check the pressure regularly. This can help extend tyre life by avoiding problems such as flattened rubber and cracks on the side […]

Big Yellow Self Storage Finds Two Social Media Gurus

Big Yellow Self Storage Finds Two Social Media Gurus

Earlier in the summer we unveiled the Big Think to search for students that are passionate about social networking, social media and web culture. Those taking part had to prove their enthusiasm for social media by submitting a catchy, funny or downright silly news headline which had to include the words “Big” and “Yellow” on our Big Yellow Self Storage page on Facebook. Many of the entries were topical as they mentioned the General Election that was happening at the time and the noisy Vuvuzelas in the World Cup. Entrants were then encouraged to get as many ‘Likes’ or retweets on their entry as possible from their friends, family and complete strangers to get their hands on the prize. The winner would win an internship with the Big Yellow online communications team and the runners-up would receive an iPod Touch. […]
