Big Yellow Oxford is one of Big Yellow’s first ever stores - opened in August 1999. You will find us conveniently located on the Horspath Industrial Estate and have probably already spotted our bright yellow buildings from the Eastern bypass - next to the BMW Mini factory. A few years ago we took over Fort Box Self Storage which is located just a few hundred yards away on the same road. This means we have plenty more space to offer including drive up storage units. You’ll access the storage facility using an app called StorID. With StorID, your phone acts like a digital code—giving you instant, secure entry without the need to remember or type anything in. Just swipe and go.

We have two buildings on the Horspath Industrial Estate. If your room number begins with a letter (e.g. A01), your room is in Oxford 1, located opposite Tool Station. If your room number begins with a number (e.g. 3029), your room is in Oxford 2.
Whichever building your room is in, please come to the reception at Oxford 1 to check in. Our team will be delighted to welcome you, guide you to your room, and give you a tour of your building.
All customers need to check out at the Oxford 1 reception, even if your room is located at Oxford 2. To ensure your refund is processed the same day, please vacate your room, remove and keep your padlock from your door and close and bolt the door behind you. Then come to reception at Oxford 1, Monday to Friday before it closes at 5:30pm, ideally at least 10 minutes before.
Our team will then ensure the refund process is started the same day for you. You should receive any funds owed within 14 days of moving out.
You can still move out on a weekend but the refund process won't be actioned until the Monday.
There is no minimum stay, but a 14-day notice period applies to all billing. This means you will only pay for the time you are with us, subject to a minimum charge of 14 days.
Yes, absolutely. If your needs change or you’ve booked the wrong room size, we’re happy to help you switch to a larger or smaller unit. Room changes are always subject to availability, but we’ll gladly show you what’s available and find the best fit for you.
