The Big Yellow Croydon store is conveniently located on Thornton Road, just off the Purley Way. You can’t miss our yellow building visible from the main road. The car park is large with plenty of parking and we have lots of trolleys for you to use to help make moving your stuff into storage easier. The Croydon store was the third Big Yellow to open. Our experienced team will help you to select the most appropriate storage unit size for your personal belongings or business storage.

Yes, all customers must insure their goods while in storage - it’s a condition of our storage license. You can choose our Enhanced Liability Service or provide your own insurance, as long as it covers items in self storage. If using your own provider, the policy must include our store’s name and address, and we’ll need a copy for our records during your stay.
As well as the 4 weekly cost for storage, you will need to budget for the following:
If your room includes a new-customer 50% off discount for up to 8 weeks, you must pay the full 8-week period in advance to receive the discount. If you move out before the offer period ends, we’ll refund any unused weeks on a pro-rata basis, so you won’t lose out.
We offer an Enhanced Liability Service to cover your goods - if using your own, please ensure your policy is updated to include our store name and address, and we'll need to take a copy.
The deposit is usually the equivalent of one week's storage rent.
If you need to purchase a padlock or any packing materials, take a look at our online Box Shop where you can buy online or arrange for Click and Collect at the store.
There is no minimum stay, but a 14-day notice period applies to all billing. This means you will only pay for the time you are with us, subject to a minimum charge of 14 days.
Yes, absolutely. If your needs change or you’ve booked the wrong room size, we’re happy to help you switch to a larger or smaller unit. Room changes are always subject to availability, but we’ll gladly show you what’s available and find the best fit for you.
