Every new Big Yellow store is built to support its local community and our newest Big Yellow Wapping location is already doing exactly that before it has even opened its doors. Working in partnership with Galliford Try and Hermitage Primary School we welcomed local pupils onto the construction site for a unique Time Capsule celebration giving them the chance to explore how a modern self storage facility is built while learning about the rich history beneath their feet. From discovering fascinating artefacts uncovered during the excavation to placing their own memories and keepsakes into a time capsule the children became part of a story that will remain hidden for future generations. Local Students Discover Future Opportunities at Big Yellow Self Storage Wapping

The visit formed part of an engaging World of Work experience giving pupils a behind the scenes look at the development of Big Yellow Wapping and the many careers involved in bringing a major project to life. Our team together with Galliford Try colleagues answered questions about the construction process explained what the finished self storage facility will offer local residents and businesses and shared how Big Yellow is committed to supporting the communities where we operate. The enthusiasm from the children was infectious with thoughtful questions and genuine excitement throughout the day. Teachers described the experience as one of the most unique educational opportunities the school has ever been offered highlighting how it brought together local history education and real world learning in a meaningful way.
