Supporting Micro Rainbow through Choose Love

Supporting Micro Rainbow through Choose Love

A recent visit to Micro Rainbow was a powerful reminder of why the work we do through The Big Yellow Foundation is so important. The Foundation was created to help vulnerable people overcome barriers to employment and build a more secure and independent future. We work with specialist charity partners that understand the different challenges people face and can provide the right support for each individual. Through our partnership with Choose Love, we are proud to support Micro Rainbow and the valuable work it does with LGBTQI refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.

What is the Micro Rainbow Non-profit organisation?

Micro Rainbow is a charity supporting LGBTQI refugees and people seeking asylum by providing safe accommodation, community support and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Its work helps people who have experienced displacement, discrimination or persecution to access the support they need to move forward in the UK. Many of the people supported by Micro Rainbow have been forced to leave their homes because of persecution linked to their sexual orientation or gender identity. After arriving in the UK, they can face further challenges including homelessness, isolation, discrimination and difficulty accessing education or employment. Micro Rainbow provides safe housing, a welcoming community and practical support to help people rebuild their lives. Its services are built around three important areas: safe housing, social inclusion and moving on. This includes helping people develop skills, access education, prepare for work and take steps towards living independently. Meeting the team and hearing about these challenges brought home how important it is for people to feel safe and supported before they can begin planning for their future. For many refugees and people seeking asylum, finding stable housing, building connections and accessing employment opportunities can be important steps towards independence and long-term security.

Supporting Refugees Through Employment and Inclusion

At The Big Yellow Foundation, we believe employment can provide much more than an income. Having the opportunity to work can build confidence, create stability and give someone a renewed sense of purpose. It can also help people become part of their local community and feel in control of their future. This is why Micro Rainbow’s focus on education, employment and independence closely reflects the aims of the Foundation. Our partnership with Choose Love allows us to support trusted organisations that are working directly with refugees and displaced people and understand what their communities need. We would like to thank the Micro Rainbow team for such a warm welcome and for sharing more about their incredible work. Seeing the difference they make was both moving and inspiring and we are proud to support them through Choose Love as they help more LGBTQI refugees and people seeking asylum build safer, happier and more independent lives.
