How to assemble a Big Yellow archive box
Assembling a cardboard archive box properly helps keep documents protected, organised and easy to access in self storage units. Follow our step by step guide to prepare your archive box for secure storage.
1. Open and shape the base
Start by opening the archive box fully. Press down the central flap inside the base to create structure and stability.
2. Fold the inner sides
Push in the inner side panels so they sit neatly inside the box. This helps form the internal shape and supports the weight of stored items.
3. Secure the outer sides
Fold the outer side panels over the inner sections. Push each side down firmly, one end at a time, to lock the structure in place.
4. Fix the handles
Push the cut-out handles through from the inside. This strengthens the sides and makes the box easier to carry when moving items into storage.
5. Assemble the lid correctly
Lay the lid flat. Make sure the smooth side is facing outward, with the grooved side on the inside. This ensures the lid folds and fits properly.
6. Fold up the lid sides
Lift the side panels of the lid upwards. Then bend the smaller flaps and align them with the pre-cut holes.
7. Secure the lid corners
Fold the flaps into place to form the corners of the lid. Repeat this on both sides until the lid is fully assembled and holds its shape.
8. Place the lid on the box
Once complete, place the lid securely on top of your archive box. Your box is now ready to be filled and stored.
Using archive boxes is a practical way to store paperwork, files and office supplies in self storage units. They are ideal for both personal and business storage, helping to keep important documents protected, tidy and easy to locate. Whether you are storing household paperwork, business records, or long-term archives, these boxes make it easier to organise your space efficiently. When combined with secure storage, archive boxes help protect contents from dust and damage, while stackable designs allow you to maximise your storage unit space and keep everything accessible when you need it.
