Big Yellow Self Storage in Reading is located just a 5 minute drive from Junction 11 of the M4, close to the Madjeski Stadium, home of the Royals, and Green Park Business Park. Frequently asked questions
To start renting your storage room, you’ll need to visit the store to sign your customer licence and pay for your initial 4-week period, deposit, and contents protection.
Contents protection is required before you can begin storing. You can either use our Enhanced Liability Service or provide your own insurance policy, but it must specifically cover self storage and clearly list our store address. A copy of the policy will need to be provided before move-in.
Don’t forget you'll need a padlock to secure your room - we sell combination locks at the store if you need to buy one.
If you need help getting your items to us, we’re happy to recommend trusted local removal companies. Alternatively, you can bring your belongings by car and use the trolleys available onsite to move them easily into your storage room.
Access is only via the south bound carriage way of the A33 (towards the M4). If you are travelling on the north bound carriage way (towards central Reading) you will need to continue past the store until you get to the junction with the traffic lights at Reading Link Retail Park and keep left in order to turn right and rejoin the A33 southbound towards the M4. Turn left between Ford and Waylands, our car park entrance is behind our store.
Our reception opening hours are:
Monday - Friday 8:30am and 5:30pm
Saturday 9am and 5:30pm
Sunday 10am and 4pm
During these hours you can come and go to your storage room as many times as you need. If you need access beyond these hours come and have a chat with us and we'll see what we can arrange. We may be able to organise extended hours access for an additional fee. However this is subject to store discretion.
Our extended access hours are:
Monday - Sunday 5am and 11pm
There is no minimum stay, but a 14-day notice period applies to all billing. This means you will only pay for the time you are with us, subject to a minimum charge of 14 days.
Yes, absolutely. If your needs change or you’ve booked the wrong room size, we’re happy to help you switch to a larger or smaller unit. Room changes are always subject to availability, but we’ll gladly show you what’s available and find the best fit for you.
