Big Yellow Gateshead was built in 2006, is superbly maintained and offers a variety of storage rooms and sizes. It’s just like a hotel for your possessions with friendly staff who are there to help. Our customers need storage units for so many different reasons and we are there to guide them every step of the way. On your move in day, if you need a breather we will happily put the kettle on. We are on the Felling Bypass near Heworth, next door to Lookers Nissan opposite KFC if you’re a little peckish too.

Our reception is immediately on your right when you enter the car park off Stoneygate Close. Follow the sign for the Box Shop.
Our rooms in the main building don’t have out-of-hours access, so we ask that you finish up and leave by the time reception closes. If you arrive just before closing, there might not be enough time to access or unload—so we always recommend arriving with plenty of time.
Some rooms outside the main building do offer extended hours access, but this is at the store’s discretion and not guaranteed. If extended access is something you’re interested in, come and have a chat and we will see what we can do.
Yes, absolutely. If your needs change or you’ve booked the wrong room size, we’re happy to help you switch to a larger or smaller unit. Room changes are always subject to availability, but we’ll gladly show you what’s available and find the best fit for you.
Absolutely. You can do this over the phone or via your online account which you create at the point of completing your online check in.
Yes, we do sell boxes. At Big Yellow, we offer a wide range of high-quality moving and storage boxes, along with all the packing materials you might need.
You can browse and purchase them online through our Box Shop, with the option for home delivery or click & collect from the store. Or, if you prefer, you can buy them directly from reception.
