25% Packing Materials Discount

  • The 25% discount can only be used against one transaction.
  • This offer is only available to those who present an emailed quote, reservation acknowledgement or confirmation, check-in online reminder or check-in online confirmation from the Big Yellow website or a Big Yellow or Armadillo store.
  • To redeem this offer, you must present your voucher from one of the above-mentioned emails in person and at the store named within the email.
  • The 25% discount applies to cardboard boxes, covers and bubble wrap. It excludes ’student/starter multi packs’ and cannot be used against any other packing materials or services.
  • This offer is valid for up to and including 30 days from the receipt of the relevant email and prior to move in if applicable.
  • This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional offer from Big Yellow or Armadillo.
  • There is no cash alternative to this offer.
  • Big Yellow reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time.

Agreement between Big Yellow and our customers

We agree to grant you, and you accept, a licence to use and access the room identified as your storage room, on the conditions set out below. We urge you to read these conditions carefully before signing the storage licence. All such conditions will be binding on your signing of the agreement. Without prejudice to the importance of you reading all such conditions please acknowledge that you have read the conditions which are referred to below. This licence shall not create a tenancy or lease or the relationship of landlord and tenant between you and us.

Armed Forces, Emergency Services & NHS 10% discount

  • All customers who are in full time employment in the Armed Forces, Ambulance, NHS, Police, Fire Brigade or anyone who holds an Armed Forces Veterans card are entitled to an additional discount of 10% off their regular storage or flexi-office rental.
  • The discount is valid upon production of a valid Armed Forces, Police, NHS, Ambulance Fire Brigade or Armed Forces Veterans photo ID card.
  • The discount can be applied at any time during your storage with us. However, it will only be effective on the next invoice due from the moment your ID card is presented and will not be backdated to invoices already paid.
  • The discount is applicable for every 4 weeks rental paid.
  • For this discount to be applied, the account must be paid up to date.
  • The offer applies to storage and flexi-office rental only.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.

Barclaycard Bespoke Offers Pre Paid Vouchers

  • The Barclaycard Bespoke Offers pre paid vouchers, can be redeemed by new or returning Big Yellow and Armadillo customers against purchases of storage, insurance and packing materials (when storage is also taken) at any Big Yellow or Armadillo store. The vouchers cannot be used for packing materials only sales.
  • Barclaycard Bespoke Vouchers cannot be used for existing storage payments, purchases made online at bigyellow.co.uk or via the Customer Support telephone number.
  • A maximum payment of £150 in vouchers may be made per customer.
  • Barclaycard Bespoke Vouchers must be used by the person named on the voucher, are not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and are subject to room availability.
  • Barclaycard Bespoke Vouchers must be used before the voucher expiry date shown on the voucher.
  • Big Yellow’s standard storage agreements apply. A full list of Terms and Conditions from storage licence and Storage Contents Protection are accessible to read via the links to the right of this section.

Bulk Discounts

  • Bulk discounts are available when purchasing a full roll of small bubble wrap,large bubble wrap and corrugated card.
  • Discounts equate to percentage saved over buying the products by the metre and are equal to 24% on the small bubble wrap 100m roll, 28% on the large bubble wrap 50m roll and 22% on the corrugated card 75m roll.
  • Discount only applicable when purchasing full roll quantities.
  • There is no cash alternative to this offer.
  • This offer cannot be used in conjuction with any other packing materials promotional offer from Big Yellow or Armadillo.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw this offer at any time.

Changes to your account

  • You will need to inform us of an alternative contact and details of any authorised person(s) that you wish to give access to your room.
  • You must inform us in writing of any changes to your details, your alternate contact details, your authorised persons or any storage or insurance terms that you wish to vary in the licence.

Click & Collect

  • Items will only be held until the store closes 2 days after your order is made
  • Payment will be due upon collection at the store.
  • Payment can be made by credit or debit cards. We do not accept cash, American Express or personal cheques.
  • You will receive a confirmation email confirming the items you’ve requested, the total cost you will have to pay at the store upon collection, your order confirmation number, the store you have requested to collect them from and when they will be held until.
  • Upon arrival at the store, please make the staff aware of your name and Click and Collect confirmation number.
  • If there is any issue with stock levels or you require a large quantity of one particular product, the store may call you to confirm the order is correct and to discuss options as it may take longer to get the stock to the store.
  • Please ensure to turn up to your chosen store, during store opening hours, within the next 2 full days.
  • If we do not hear from you by the end of the 2nd working day, your items will no longer be guaranteed, however provided we have sufficient stock, you may still purchase the items if you arrive at the store after this period.

Conditions of storage

  • It is Your obligation to lock and secure the Room; alarm the Room; remove Your padlock upon vacating Your Room; and keep it from unauthorised entry
  • Our obligations as to what you can store and how you can use the Room
  • Late payment charges and other additional charges payable by You for failure to pay on time
  • Our right to sell the Goods in the event of non-payment of Our Fees
  • Your obligation to check that the Room is suitable for storing the Goods
  • We do not insure the Goods. It is a requirement of our self storage agreement that your goods are insured to their full replacement value whilst they are in storage and you must supply us with evidence of taking out such insurance cover before the contract can be signed. This Condition explains Your obligation to insure the Goods and the exclusion and limitation of our liability. In particular, please note the warranties which you are providing to Us, including that the goods are not worth more than the full replacement value indicated by yourself
  • Grounds for Termination of this Licence, including the requirement to give us seven days written notice
  • Your notification to Us of any loss of or damage to Your Goods within a reasonable time period
  • The purposes for which We may use Your personal data and Your consent to the use of Your personal data for marketing purposes

NB: You will be billed every 4 weeks in advance for your fee.

Goods Handling / Forklift

  • All deliveries will be accepted by Big Yellow / Armadillo for customer’s who have storage / flexi-office providing the delivery is clearly marked for the attention of the customer named on the Licence. Any delivery refused and requiring redelivery is at the customer’s expense.
  • Deliveries must be collected during Reception opening hours.
  • Deliveries will be stored in a secure location prior to their collection by the customer.
  • The exception to this is if the delivery is of palletised goods / large items (too big to fit in a locker). In this case the delivery will remain unsecured in the loading bay.
  • The deliveries will not include any items that are prohibited, as detailed in condition 8 of the Customer Licence.
  • There may be a charge by Big Yellow / Armadillo for using this service.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo accepts no responsibility for any damage or loss to goods that are delivered to a store. Goods delivered to our stores are at the customer’s own risk and will be unchecked by the store team.
  • If the deliveries are left unclaimed for 24 hours in the loading bay or 7 days in a secure location a holding charge could be levied.
  • Deliveries unclaimed after 30 days will be disposed of by the store.
  • Should the delivery require the use of a forklift to unload / load pallets, Big Yellow and its employees are to be held harmless from any damage or injury that may result from this, unless they have been negligent. There are no forklifts at our Armadllo stores.
  • Should the value of goods to be fork lifted exceed £5,000 this must be brought to the attention of Big Yellow prior to the commencement of the unloading.
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all pallets received are removed from site.

Home Delivery

  • All orders received before midday Monday to Friday are despatched the same day and usually arrive within the next two working days. We try our very best to offer a next working day delivery service on all our orders received before midday Monday to Friday but this is not a guaranteed service.
  • We are unable to accept orders for delivery to the Scottish Highlands and Islands and Ireland. This includes the following postcode areas - AB37, AB38, AB44, AB45, AB53, AB56, CA18, CA27, TR21, TR25, BT, GY, HS, IM, JE, PO30 to PO41,TR21-TR24, LA15, LA23, PH17, FK17-21, IV1-1V39, IV52-54, IV63, KW1-KW14, PA21-PA40, PH19-PH26, PH30-PH41, PH49-PH50, HS1-HS9, IV40-IV51, IV55-IV56, KA27-KA28, KW15-KW17, PA20, PA38, PA41-PA49, PA60-PA78, PH22-PH44, ZE1-ZE3.
  • For larger orders of multiple storage packs or over 50 individual boxes, longer delivery periods may be required. You will be contacted to confirm longer delivery times prior to despatch if this is necessary.
  • If no-one is available to accept the delivery, you will be notified to inform you how you can collect your parcel or arrange re-delivery. It then becomes your responsibility to contact the relevant delivery company to arrange a suitable re-delivery date.
  • We accept no liability if delivery is not made due to you not being available.
  • If you wish the items to be left at a location in your absence, and you have a specific dry area in which they can be left, at either your premises or a neighbour’s, please ensure to complete this information in the special delivery requirements box on the Your Details page of the order prior to making your payment. All delivery information that you provide will be attached to your parcel for delivery by DPD.
  • Our packing materials are distributed by DPD. You will receive a confirmation email from them when your order is despatched. This will contain a tracking number should you wish to check the progress of your order. Alternatively, please contact our customer services team on 0800 783 4949 for further information, click here for opening hours.
  • Any missing items must be reported within 14 days of receiving your order. DPD's policy is only to investigate missing items up to two weeks after an order was delivered. So please get in touch with our Customer Services Team on 0800 783 4949 at the earliest opportunity to notify us if anything is missing.
  • Orders of multiple boxes and other items are sent from our distribution centre in boxes that are compatible with the DPD network. Due to size and weight constraints, all multi packs, with the exception of the Archive pack, are split into 2 smaller boxes.
Returns Policy
  • If, within 30 days of receipt, you are not completely satisfied with the items you receive, please return unused, unopened and undamaged items to us and you will receive a full refund for the cost of the merchandise; the initial delivery charge is non refundable. You can either organise a courier of your choice to return the items to us or drop the items off at your nearest Big Yellow or Armadillo store. The cost of returning the items to us, must be covered by yourself in this instance.
  • If you receive damaged goods or the items you received were not the items ordered we shall refund the value of the goods, the delivery cost and arrange for the items to be returned to us at our cost. Please be available on the arranged date to return your items to our courier.
  • Your credit card will be credited within five working days of the merchandise being received back at our facility.
  • Please contact Customer Services on 0800 783 4949 to discuss any return requirements. Lines open 8am to 8pm Mondays to Fridays, 8am - 6pm Saturdays and 9am - 5pm Sundays.
  • If the items in question were purchased at a store and not online, provided the items are unused and undamaged, we will either exchange or refund the items as appropriate at the store where the purchase took place, upon the production of a valid receipt.

Contents Protection/Enhanced Liability Service

  • It is your responsibility to take out adequate protection for your goods while your goods are stored with us.
  • Items placed in self storage are done so at your own risk.
  • It is a condition of our customer licence that your goods are protected to their full replacement value whilst they are in storage; and you can either use our Enhance Liability Service for this protection or you must supply us with evidence of taking out your own insurance cover. The insurance certificate / cover note must state that the cover is provided whilst the goods are stored at Big Yellow / Armadillo Self Storage and include the full store postal address.
  • We can provide you with contents protection for your goods through our Enhanced Liability Service. This is for actual loss of, damage or destruction to your property and is subject to the policy conditions available on our Enhanced Liability Service Application form and in the Terms & Conditions displayed in the Guide to Self Storage. Please note that irrespective of whether you take out our service or arrange your own insurance, our liability for actual physical loss, destruction or damage to your property is limited by the terms of the Customer Licence.
  • We urge you to make sure that you read and understand all the terms, conditions and exclusions of this service before signing the storage agreement. In particular, please make sure you have read the conditions of storage, which are of particular importance.

New Customer Offer

  • The opening offer of a 50% discount is for an introductory period and is available on selected room sizes only.
  • The minimum stay for any opening offer is 14 days; if you move out prior to the 14 day minimum stay period the offer will not apply to your storage, vehicle or flexi office rental.
  • The promotion is offered to new customers that do not currently have storage with us, and existing customers either taking additional space or transferring to a larger room.
  • You are only entitled to this offer twice during your stay, regardless of how many additional rooms taken or room transfers made.
  • If the Customer Licence is transferred into another name, the opening offer will not be reapplied.
  • This promotion is for the duration of the first invoice only, for 4, 8 or 12 weeks and dependent upon room availability. This cannot be altered after the date of the move in i.e. you cannot subsequently ask for 50% off your next invoice if you have only chosen to take the 4 week option at move in.
  • You will pay in advance for the duration of the offer selected.
  • This promotion applies to self storage, vehicle parking and flexi office rental only.
  • If you move out prior to the completion of your Opening Offer - and you have stayed 14 days or more - a proportion of the opening offer discount will be claimed back. i.e. If you take the 8 week option and then move out after 6 weeks, you will be refunded 2 weeks storage at half price.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.
  • This offer is not applicable for National Customers.

Prepayment 5% Discount

  • You are entitled to an additional 5% discount if you wish to prepay for the storage, vehicle parking or flexi-office rental for 52 weeks or more.
  • The prepayment discount can be used in conjunction with a New Customer Offer at the point of moving in if you are a new customer. The prepay offer will be calculated first, followed by the new customer offer.
  • You can prepay during any point of the contract, providing the account is paid up to date.
  • The offer applies to storage, wine storage, vehicle parking and flexi-office rental only.
  • If you are pre paying for insurance for your storage, wine storage or flexi-offices, the Insurance can also qualify for the pre payment discount.
  • You can prepay for a maximum of 2 years (104 weeks).
  • If you move out prior to the end of the current prepayment invoice period the prepay discount will be claimed back pro-rata for the period being refunded (i.e. if you move out after 40 weeks of a 52-week invoice period, 12 weeks’ worth of discount will be claimed back).
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.

Price Match Customer

  • Any competitor quote of the ongoing cost of storage should be presented to us in writing.
  • Opening offers from competitors will not be accepted under our Price Match.
  • All competitor quotes must be dated within 28 days of your move-in date and must be produced prior to move-in.
  • Any competitor quote must be from a competitor located within 3 miles of our store and offering a like-for-like storage service and a similar room. This means a self storage centre with comparable facilities and security features to a Big Yellow or Armadillo store, which is offering, and has available, the same storage room size for the same length of stay.
  • Quotes from non self storage services such as shipping containers and containerised storage companies will not be accepted under our Price Match.
  • Our Price Match is only available for rooms of 200 sq ft or less and is always subject to the availability of room space at each of our stores.
  • Our Price Match cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer.
  • Our Price Match is for new customers only.
  • The price is for storage only and does not include contents protection or packing materials.
  • Big Yellow Self Storage / Armadillo Self Storage reserve the right to change or withdraw this promotion at any time.
  • We reserve the right to refuse a Price Match on reasonable grounds.
  • Any Price Match rate offered is guaranteed for a maximum of 24 weeks after which the storage rate will revert back to our standard rate.

Shareholder 10% Discount

  • All Big Yellow shareholders are entitled to an additional discount of 10% on their regular storage or flexi-office rental.
  • The discount is valid for the direct use of self storage, or purchase of packing materials, insurance or other services by all shareholders either at Big Yellow or Armadillo stores.
  • The discount is applicable for every 4 weeks of storage rental paid.
  • For this discount to be applied the account must be paid up to date.
  • The shareholder MUST provide proof of shareholding e.g. a copy of the Share Certificate, new Shareholder letter from Computershare or a letter from Share Nominee Ltd proving their shareholding. The name on the document must match the name of the person taking the storage.
  • The discount may not be used in conjunction with other offers.
  • All shareholders are bound by the same storage terms and conditions as other customers.
  • The shareholder discount is not available to Big Yellow employees.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.

Storage Licence

Upon arriving at the store you will be required to complete a Customer Licence which you will be required to read and sign before you can access your storage room. In addition you will be given a copy of Your Guide to Self Storage at Big Yellow which you will be required to read. By accepting the terms and conditions on our reserve online system you are agreeing to comply with all the terms and conditions in Your Guide to Self Storage at Big Yellow.

Refer a Friend

  • As an existing customer, you can give the name and contact details of a friend or colleague who requires a storage room, flexi office or wine storage cellar and providing there is no previous evidence of the friend having enquired for storage at Big Yellow or Armadillo and they take up storage or a flexi office space (or wine storage cellar) with us for a minimum of 4 weeks, you are entitled to 50% off your next 4 weeks rental inclusive of VAT.
  • The storage taken by the friend MUST be for a minimum of 4 weeks.
  • The discount will be added to your next invoice once the recommended friend has completed their 4 weeks storage.
  • There is a 25 sq ft minimum size requirement for a storage room to be taken by the recommended friend.
  • There is no minimum size requirement on flexi offices or wine storage although the referred friend must stay for at least four weeks.
  • The discount can be applied to the storage fee or office fee only; it does not include insurance, packing materials or other services.
  • Offer only applicable against storage rooms, wine storage cellars and flexi offices. It is not applicable to parking spaces.
  • The discount level will be capped at £150 inclusive of VAT per successful recommendation.
  • For this discount to be applied the account must be paid up to date.
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time without prior notice.
  • There is no cash alternative.
  • Offer subject to room availability.
  • Offer limited to 1 referral per customer per 4 weeks.
  • The offer cannot be used by the referrer in conjunction with their 50% off introductory storage period.
  • The discount applies to a maximum of one storage room, one flexi office or one wine cellar per customer – i.e. Customers with multiple rooms, flexi offices or wine cellars will only get the discount off one storage room, office or wine cellar and this will be discounted from the smallest space rented.

Van Hire Credit

  • The credit can be up to but not exceeding £50.
  • The offer applies to room sizes of 35 sq ft or greater.
  • This offer only applies to the initial room taken and not subsequent rooms.
  • The offer can be used in conjunction with all discounts including the New Customer Promotion for new customer at the point of moving in.
  • The customer must stay for a minimum of 12 weeks. The credit will be received by the customer on their account 12 weeks after move in.
  • The customer must bring in a valid receipt i.e. the dates match the date of move in and the receipt is in the customer’s name, from the van hire company in order to receive the credit on their account.
  • The credit is only available for self drive van rental, and not for van hire where there is a hired driver, “man with van” services or for any form of removal company.
  • The offer applies to storage rental only. (Not available for flexi-offices)
  • Big Yellow / Armadillo reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.
  • The promotion is available at all Big Yellow and Armadillo stores.
