After making a resevation i have been contacted twice over the phone by staff members. They were really helpful and provided so much information regarding the moving in process, big thank you to them.

It was handled well. They lady on the phone gave me a realistic idea of what to expect and how big the storage would be. As a result, the one I ended up choosing was perfect for my needs.

Negotiating a deal by email was reasonably straightforward and the staff were always friendly and quick to respond. We visited the location before finally deciding to use BY . Moving in was easy in terms of the physical access-but it was VERY annoying to initially be offered a space very negatively different in layout to the one we had been shown as an exampl;e of what we would get.We did change to what we wanted.

Got 3 quotes on line - Big Yellow, Access and Safestore - all within a mile of where we live. Bradley from Big Yellow was first to ring to follow up and move the price down a bit. Others followed - all well below the on line quotes (lesson here - don't settle for on line quote) . In the end the quotes were all similar so went with Big Yellow on basis of service responsiveness (Bradley and Lloyd did good job) and quality of facility. Only downer was a faff around insurance - 234 pounds per annum for 3000 pounds cover is a complete ripoff and a brand damaging example of price gouging consumers. Need to fix that. Assume insurance is a big profit centre. Need to quote realistic prices. In the end I went for cover with our existing home insurance (HSBC) for a nominal amount. Don't use price matching excuse - should be quoting realistic prices up front.
