We provide clean, dry, individually alarmed storage units from 10 sq ft to 5000 sq ft which can be rented from as little as 7 days or as long as required. Pin code access ensures that only you have access to your things.

Your price includes rates, service charges, utility bills, buildings insurance and maintenance costs - we take care of everything so that you can concentrate on running your business.

The cost depends upon the size of space you require. You can use our online size estimator and then get a quote on a room of the right size. At Big Yellow we have spaces ranging from 10 ft² to 5000 ft². And you can change room sizes without penalty. Prices start from as little as £10 a week. We do not charge VAT on storage rooms.

The price you are quoted by our staff includes your storage charge, rates, service charges, utility bills, buildings insurance and maintenance costs. Unlike traditional warehousing where you’re responsible if the alarm goes off at 2 o’ clock in the morning or if the roof springs a leak or where you need spend time managing cleaning contractors and building maintenance, we take care of everything so that you can concentrate on running your business.

We don’t charge VAT on our spaces. You will need a padlock to secure your room and your goods will need to be insured whilst they are in storage. A refundable security deposit equal to one week’s storage charge (four weeks if you do not sign a direct debit) is payable on all standard rooms when your storage starts and is refunded when you vacate your space.

Yes. If you need space from 500 ft² to 5,000 ft² we will tailor your room to your exact requirements. Not only does this mean you only ever pay for the space you actually need, it’s also far more cost effective than traditional warehousing. We can also provide phone lines, broadband and power.

What’s more, there are no business rates to pay, no VAT, no complex leases to sign, no bank guarantees or large deposits required. We only ask for one month’s rent in advance, a deposit equivalent to one month’s rent and that you stay for a minimum of one year.

We offer a number of payment options including credit card, debit card, cheque and direct debit. Cash will only be accepted for payments after your initial payment when you move in.

No, you can fill in your storage licence today and move in to one of our standard rooms immediately. No bank guarantees or large deposits are required nor time spent with lawyers checking onerous long term leases.

However to be guaranteed a room of a specific size on arrival, it is advisable to book your room in advance. The reservation deposit for a standard room is £10 and this holds your room for up to four weeks.

Yes, a member of our staff will fill in our simple storage licence with you, and then you can move your goods into one of our standard rooms straight away. You will need to bring with you a suitable proof of identity (a passport); proof of address (a utility bill); and any means of payment except cash.

There will always be a trained member of staff available seven days a week during reception opening times. Should you require assistance outside of office hours there are telephones located in our loading bays and lift lobbies that will connect you to our security company.

No, you don't. You sign a straightforward Storage Licence prior to ‘moving in’ to your space. Our staff will talk you through the contents of this simple agreement to make sure you understand the key points of what you're committing to.

You are welcome to move to another size room at any time, depending on your storage requirements (and, of course, the availability of other room sizes at the store).

Our rooms range from seven feet to over nine feet in height, depending on the Big Yellow store you choose.

Our rooms are not heated. However, the temperature within our stores remains fairly constant, notwithstanding the season. Our modern buildings are very well insulated so that our stores are never too hot or unduly cold. We have temperature controlled areas in some of our stores which are ideal for the storage of sensitive items. Please contact us for further details.

All Big Yellow stores incorporate extensive security features, including:

• 24 hour Digital CCTV located both inside and outside the main building, monitoring all entrances and exits
• A sophisticated twin alarm system – one for the building and one for each individual storage space
• Coded electronic gate access to the building allowing access only with your own personal PIN Number
• A fire and smoke detection system
• Mobile security patrols able to react to any alarm activations

Our minimum storage period is seven days and we only require seven days notice of your intention to vacate our standard rooms. At this time a refund will be processed for the initial security deposit and any unused monies that you have paid. Notice must be given in writing, either by fax, post or email.

You are welcome to stay for a week, month, year – or for as long as you need.

You can store almost anything at Big Yellow. The only exceptions are:

• Living items, such as animals and plants
• Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives
• Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs
• Unauthorised or illegal goods, such as drugs or firearms

Customs and Police have statutory powers allowing them to gain access to your space should they serve the appropriate notice on Big Yellow. We also conduct random sniffer–dog patrols at our stores for the protection of all our customers.

Yes, we sell an extensive range of packing materials from boxes to bubble wrap. Packing materials can be bought in person from our stores or you can order storage packs online and have them delivered to your door.

Our trained staff can provide forklift truck services for any palletised goods. Trolleys and pallet trucks are available free of charge for customer use.
